About Us

I live in Brewster, NY and have been at my present location for over 10 years. I have been ‘pet sitting’ for friends and family since the 80’s. It really was a way for me to have dogs when I couldn’t own one during that time. I begged my parents for an animal for years. All my brothers and sisters had them but I never did. Finally, on Christmas Day 1979, I got my first cat. I named her Dallas and she was with me for 15 years.

Once I moved out of my family’s home and up to Brewster the numbers began to increase. I rescued a feral that grew very attached to Dallas and a mom/daughter team to start and then I don’t know what happened. I just kept rescuing cats. 3 from the great gals at Forgotten Felines. So, my total current brood is 2 big mixed mutts and 7 cats. 4 of the cats have special needs or need meds. Of the pups, 1 is on daily meds and the other is very emotionally needy.

Don’t even get me started on the sweet Rhode Island red hens I use to have. Suffice it to say it’s when I stopped eating all meat and stick mainly to a fish/bean only diet.

Anyway, I recently decided on a life change and made this my occupation of choice. One of the reasons I started this service is because I experience a ton of stress when I take vacations or have to work late at the office because I know my pets are stressing too.

 

My first dog, Sundance is whom this business is named for. She is the best dog, almost human like. Currently she struggles with arthritis and has for some years. When she was first diagnosed I had a handicap ramp built for her so she didn’t have to climb stairs. I believe this is why she is still with me today in as good shape as she is.

I also purchased a king size bed once I rescued my second dog, Duffy (he’s the one in the red!). The queen just did not house us all. Some nights I have both dogs and two or three cats on me. How I sleep at all I am not sure but when I wake up and I get a big sloppy kiss its worth all the trouble. The things we will do for our pets!! Or is it just me?

My dogs come with me on vacation most times but when they don’t all I do is think of them. Especially if I am somewhere where there are other pups. I worry all the time about the cats and if they are getting their meds or if they are hiding from the sitter. I have learned lots of medication giving tricks in my day.

I am so in love with my pets and with animals in general that I know pet sitting is my calling!
